Personal Fitness Assessment & Planning
At Peninsula Doctor we offer a comprehensive fitness assessment to all of our members. Our fitness assessment and planning program is designed to establish a baseline of each patient’s fitness level. From there, we can create a customized fitness plan that aligns with the patient’s lifestyle and goals. We use a combination of advanced technology (Resting Metabolic Rate Testing and Body Composition Analysis) and comprehensive fitness assessments to determine your baseline. In the following sections you will find detailed information about the technology we use, why testing is done, and the methods we use.
Metabolic Rate Testing
Why measure Metabolic Rate?
Your resting metabolic rate is the rate at which your body burns calories when it is not in motion. This rate plays a huge role in how you feel, as well as the energy level needed for your kidneys, heart, and brain to operate properly. It also gives us an ability to assess your healthy weight baseline and establish the optimal metabolic rate for weight loss (if desired). Once we establish your Basal Metabolic Rate, we can develop a plan to help you reach your personal wellness goals.
We use the Vista-MX2 Metabolic Measurement System. It is a research quality, breath-by-breath mixing chamber VO2 measurement system. We use Vista-MX2 Metabolic Measurement System. It is a research quality, breath-by-breath mixing chamber type VO2 measurement system.
Body Composition Analysis
Why perform body composition analysis?
The amount of water, protein, minerals and fat in our bodies directly affects our health. Using the DEXA method of quantitative analysis, we can get an accurate reading of the body’s composition to create a tailored fitness plan for each individual. We use the state of the art DXA scan by GE Lunar that delivers exceptional precision data for body composition analysis.
We have partnered with some of the best local trainers who work closely with Dr. Kroes to help patients achieve their maximum health potential and fitness strength. These trainers offer both private studio training and in-home services. During our fitness assessment, we will assess 7-10 primal movement patterns: deep squat, hurdle step, incline lunge, shoulder mobility, impingement clearing test, active straight leg raise, trunk stability push-up, press-up clearing test, rotary stability, and posterior rocking clearing test.
